Male life drawing

Ahhhhh this one sucked but I'm going to post it anyway. I blame the lighting, it was tricksy. And for some reason he was pulling a proper sad face. Learnt some things anyway, like... hands are generally bigger than you think they are. And simpler is better.

Japanese girls

Linked to something I'm working on.

I realise in the blue one, she could either be laughing deliriously at the fish or at the fact that she's flashing them. Dirty girl!

More ballet

I think listening to Tchaikovsky will do that to you.

I saw something done in a similar way somewhere and thought I'd have a stab at it. I'm pretty happy with everything but her face. I think I redid it about 10 times with various different expressions. Also, I always try and go for exaggeration and doing something stylized but quite often end up reining it back because it doesn't look quite right. And then it doesn't look as punchy as I wanted to.

Guess it's time for another go at something!

Offstage

At class today the teacher grabbed my stomach in and pushed my back straight a couple of times. If only she could sit there whilst I'm hunched crookedly over my wacom tablet, reminding me 8 hours a day, my posture might actually improve.

Utopia sketches

So, I watched the whole thing on Channel 4 the past 6 weeks. Considering the endless slurry of unimaginative reality TV, this was something to be excited about. I was not let down in the slightest. Check it out if you're not of a slightly sensitive disposition.

Anyway, I did some quick drawings of Jessica and Arby. Gunna try and do the others another evening.

Life Drawing

Started a new job recently at a lovely studio called Blue Zoo. Got invited to a life drawing class after work and these are a couple of the results. Was ridiculously out of practice doing it 'live' as such, and with charcoal. But it was great seeing other people's stuff, quite inspiring. Definitely need to make it a regular thing.

And yes, in case you were unsure, he did look like a retired 70s porn star.

Squishy dragons

Continuing from my little painting I'm working on did these sketches. A little bit Pete's dragon, but I like her ears.

Used Sketchbook Pro for the first time in a while. It's true though, you do get a better line with it. Should use it way more for drawing.
